A Report of Formation of ELECTORAL LITERACY CLUB in Laban Assamese Girls’ Higher Secondary School

Laban Assamese Girls’ Higher Secondary School has formed an ELECTORAL LITERACY CLUB under the able guidance of the principal, and teacher – in – charge of this club. On 16th May, 2018, the Students of class IX to XII were assembled in the school premises. They have been Enlighted on the need and importance of the formation of this club. The teacher in charge had delivered a pep-talk regarding the importance of enrolling themselves in the voter list once they attain the age of eighteen years; the need of proper awareness regarding the use of E.V.M and V.V.P.A.T, emphasising the value of their vote and maintaining the secrecy of their vote. Two Students from class –XII, namely Manisha Nongkhlaw and PanchuChettri have been elected as the president and secretary respectively of this club.

In the forthcoming days, (after the first and second terminal examination and with the joining of new students in class XI) the school is going to organise meetings and activities related to this club.

Visit of NLU Co-ordinators – A Report

A team of National Law University (NLU) co-ordinators visited the school in the last week of October,2018 to evaluate the ELC project. The nodal teachers along with few students of the school participated and talked with the NLU co-ordinators. As part of their survey, the students were asked some basic questions along with some awareness programme which was imparted to them via audio-visual mode. One of the nodal teacher was also required to fill a questionnaire based on the ELC project.
